Use AI to turn your CV into a focused company shortlist
A practical workflow for choosing a role, checking your evidence and researching companies before you apply.
Start with an evidence file
Save a clean version of your CV before asking AI to rewrite it. Mark the projects, responsibilities and results you can explain in an interview. Keep dates, qualifications and job titles exactly as they happened. If a suggested sentence changes the facts, remove it.
For a first exercise, choose one target role and collect a short list of skills that literally appear in your experience. Put an example beside each skill. A missing example is a gap to investigate, not an invitation to manufacture a claim.
Choose companies for a reason
Set a sector, location and company-size preference. Read each company description and identify which part connects to your experience. Separate a plausible target company from a confirmed vacancy: a good fit does not mean the employer is hiring.
Build a manageable shortlist with a company name, website, relevant part of your CV, source and date checked. Review the company careers page before describing any opening as current. If no opening is visible, frame the next step as an exploratory conversation.
Make the next action specific
For an advertised role, compare the complete job description with your original CV. For an exploratory approach, explain why the company interests you and ask a short, open question. Review the recipient, message and supporting evidence before sending.
